Total cardiovascular disease: Data about total cardiovascular disease was provided by 1 cohort (36). No association was found
between snap beans and CVD risk.
Coronary heart disease: Data about coronary heart disease was provided by 1 cohort (10). A significant protective effect of peas
against CHD risk was found.
Stroke: Data about stroke was provided by 1 cohort (16). No association was found with fermented bean products.
Conclusion: A significant protective effect was found, but protective effects were limited to finding from one cohort. No evidence was found for
an association between specific types of beans and CVD.
