CHD: Data about the relation with coronary heart disease was provided by 2 cohorts. No associations were found with IHD risk (3) or mortality
(37).
Stroke: Data about the relation with stroke was provided by 1 cohort (37). A significant protective effect was found against cerebrovascular death among women.
Conclusion: A significant protective effect against cerebrovascular death was found among women, but results were limited to findings from one cohort. No evidence
was found for an association between seaweed and CVD.
