Citrus fruit and colorectal cancer.

Colon cancer risk: Data about the relation between citrus fruit and colon cancer risk was provided by a pooled analysis of 14 cohorts (29). No significant association was found.
Rectal cancer risk: Data about the relation with rectal cancer risk was provided by 3 cohorts (6, 9). No associations were found.
Colorectal cancer risk: Data from articles about 3 cohorts was not stratified by cancer site (though information about colon cancer from one cohort [23] was used by the pooled analysis). A nonsignificant protective effect among men, but not women was found in one cohort (30). No other associations were found (23, 27).
Mortality: Data about colon/rectal cancer mortality was provided by 1 cohort (22). A significantly increased risk of colon cancer mortality was found among men, but not women. No other associations were found.

Conclusion: Few associations were found with any cancer and point. No evidence was found to justify the label of an association.
