Green and/or leafy vegetables and ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer risk: Data about the relation with ovarian cancer risk was provided by a pooled analysis of 12 cohorts studies (9), and one additional cohort (8), including a total of 2,674 cases. A nonsignificant protective effect was found in the pooled analysis including 2,130 cases. The average RR = 0.90.

Ovarian cancer mortality: Data about the relation with ovarian cancer mortality was provided by one cohort (10).

Conclusion: A nonsignificant protective effect against cancer risk was found in a pooled analysis of 12 cohorts including 80% of all cases. Suggestive evidence was found for a protective effect of green leafy vegetables against ovarian cancer risk (- 10%). No level of consumption could be defined for this effect.
