Consumption of dried or salted fish and all-cause mortality or survival.

Data was provided by 2 cohorts. A small, significant protective effect of dried/salted fish consumption was found among both men and women in a Japanese cohort (29), but no significant association of smoked/salted fish consumption was found in a US cohort (1).

Conclusion: Little data was available. Inconclusive evidence was found for an association between salted fish consumption and all-cause mortality.
